More To Say about Hilde

Hilde is a Speech Language Therapist, trained in The Netherlands who moved to New Zealand in 2004. She has worked as a Speech Language Therapist with children with special needs at special schools, rehabilitation centres and in early intervention since 1992. She worked at the Kidz First Child Development Team Manukau with children aged 0-3 and at Parkside Special School following many years at Carlson School for Children with Cerebral Palsy, with children aged 3-21.
Hilde’s practice is evidence-based. Therapy sessions are always individualised according to your child's interests and needs so that your child receives the maximum benefit with as few sessions as possible.
Her therapy sessions are designed to meet the communication and/or feeding needs of your child in a fun, friendly and supportive way. Parents are encouraged to take part in the sessions and learn ways to include the communication targets in their everyday interactions with their child. Using these skills we ensure that the whole therapy experience is "fun" for all involved.
In her spare time Hilde have done a fair bit of volunteer work in India and the Pacific Islands as an SLT. She also supports other SLTs with supervision.
AAC
Given that she has worked with children with significant communication needs she has always enjoyed the challenge of supporting them with Augmentative and Alternative Communication. She feels that communication is a basic need for any person to connect with others and to express himself or herself. Hilde has been CAT level 2 accredited for several years and is enthusiastic about the new developments within technology that are more flexible, socially acceptable and allow many more communicators to express themselves. She is on the board of ATANZ (Assistive Technology Alliance New Zealand)
